Important information about dealine dates:

The United States was put in a tailspin due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The pandemic has caused enormous trials and issues on nationwide, statewide, and personal levels – employment, businesses, tenancy and real estate in general. Due to the numerous and extended Shelter in Place Orders issued by the county, state and federal government, many of appraisal districts in Texas has shifted their schedules back. Values to be set each year are dictated by the Property Tax Code as of January 1 of each year. This means that the pandemic (Covid-19) would not have affected the value being issued on your property in 2020.

Appraisal Notices – Many Appraisal Districts begin sending out the values notices between March 15th through April 15th. This year, many counties did not send out the value notices until the 1st of May to May 15th.

Protest Deadlines – The deadline to protest your value is 30 days after date of Notice of Value. If your value notice is dated May 15, 2020, then your deadline is June 15, 2020. It is important to note the date of your value notice to ensure you do not miss the filing deadline. This deadline is to file a protest only. You will have a time after the filing deadline in order to try and work out the value with the Appraisal District before your scheduled Appraisal Review Board Hearing date.
